1. Who We Are
The Wealth Cap Project is a campaign advocating for a democratic wealth cap in Europe. This website is operated by The Wealth Cap Project team. For any questions about this privacy policy or your personal data, contact us at info@wealthcapproject.org.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect personal data only when you voluntarily provide it:
- Newsletter signup: your email address.
- Declaration signing (individual): your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, country, profession, and affiliation.
- Declaration signing (organisation): organisation name, representative name, representative function, email address, and optionally website, phone number, and country.
3. Why We Collect Your Data
- To verify your identity as a signatory via email confirmation.
- To count and display the total number of verified signatories.
- To send you newsletter updates (only if you subscribe).
- To contact signatories about the campaign if necessary.
We do not publicly display individual names or personal details of signatories. Only the total count of verified signatures is shown.
4. Legal Basis (GDPR)
We process your personal data based on your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by checking the consent box before signing the declaration or subscribing to the newsletter. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
5. How We Store Your Data
Your data is stored securely in a Supabase database hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access to the database is restricted to authorised team members only.
6. Third-Party Processors
We use the following third-party services to process your data:
- Supabase (database hosting, EU region) — stores signatory and subscriber data.
- Brevo (email service, EU company) — sends verification and newsletter emails.
- Cloudflare (hosting) — serves the website and processes API requests.
All processors comply with GDPR and have appropriate data processing agreements in place.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as the declaration campaign is active. Unverified signatures (where the email was not confirmed) are automatically deleted after 30 days. You may request deletion of your data at any time.
8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing.
- Lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@wealthcapproject.org.
9. Cookies
This website does not use cookies for tracking or analytics. No third-party cookies are set. Only essential technical cookies may be used by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security purposes.
