We live in a time of extreme wealth inequality.
Wealth is increasingly accumulating in the hands of a few while most citizens face rising living costs, deteriorating public services, and shrinking opportunities. An ultra-rich minority grows richer every day by exploiting an unjust system, exerting disproportionate influence over institutions, governments, and our economies, with far-reaching consequences for everyone's lives.
No one should be able to undermine democracy, put their personal interests above society's, or dictate the direction our economies should take. As wealth and power become increasingly concentrated, the growing divide not only threatens justice and progress, but also our collective liberty.
It is time to change this.
We, the signatories, defend a clear solution: a European cap on extreme wealth.
Countries in Europe must implement a standardized limit on the amount of wealth a single person can own to prevent extreme wealth accumulation in the hands of a few. The wealth cap shall spark widespread wealth redistribution in Europe, reviving our public services, funding universal social programs, financing the green transition, and promoting innovation to improve everyone's lives. The time has come to move towards a democratic economic system where everyone takes part in progress. This is the only way to guarantee a better future for everyone, one in which no one is left behind. It is time to act, and it is more necessary than ever before.
